FABF Website Admin / Sunday, August 2, 2026 / Categories: News & Events City of Chicago Employer Funding Resolution At its July 15, 2026, regular meeting, the Retirement Board (“Board”) of the Firemen’s Annuity and Benefit Fund of Chicago (the “Fund”) passed a Funding Resolution setting forth the statutory required employer contribution from the City of Chicago (the “City) for the City’s budget year 2027 with payment to be made to the Fund in 2028. Pursuant to Article 6 of the Illinois Pension Code, the statutory employer contribution owed to the Fund is $460,831,101 and contains the following elements: • The actuarially calculated required statutory contribution of $458,195,000 [ILCS 40, Act 5, Article 6-165(a)], plus amounts equal to $1,666,101 as required by ILCS 40, Act 5, Section 6- 211(g) pertaining to exempt rank funding, and the Retiree Healthcare (OPEB) Subsidy of $828,000 as required by ILCS 50, Act 5, Section 6-164.2, and $142,000 as required by ILCS 40, Act 5, Section 6-168 pertaining to death benefit funding.
