FABF is partnering with ID.Me

FABF is partnering with ID.Me, a vendor that will securely send submitted documents over the web. Below are some common questions and answers as this process continues.

Who is ID.me?

They are a federally certified identity provider. They specialize in digital identity protection and help us make sure you’re you – and not someone pretending to be you. This verification is required before we can accept your forms. It’s quick, secure, and available 24-hours a day. If you run into any difficulties, ID.me offers video chat capability with trained and certified staff members to help you quickly and easily verify your identity.

Is my personally identifiable information safe with ID.me?

ID.me is trusted by several agencies like the IRS to safely verify your data. ID.me will provide security to your private information, and it will not be transferred to any 3rd party agencies.

Why do I need to use ID.me?

ID.me provides a quick and secure way for annuitants to verify their identity and access benefits such as filling out forms electronically.

How do I sign up for ID.me?

When you sign a document online, ID.me will prompt you to sign in for next steps.

Will I be able to fill out all forms electronically using ID.me?

As we continue to create new features for the site, more forms continue to be created.

Is my personally identifiable information safe with ID.me?

ID.me does not sell, lease, or trade any personal information collected during verification, including biometric information, to any third parties. ID.me will only transfer your Personal Information at your request, and with your consent. You can read more about ID.me's privacy policy here.

Member Trustee Election Information

Under provisions of the Illinois Pension Code, an election will be held to fill the office of Active Firefighter Member Trustee of The Retirement Board. The position will become vacant on December 1, 2024, because of the expiration of the term of an incumbent. Ballots will be mailed to all active members eligible to vote no later than September 18, 2024.

Pre-Retirement Seminar

The spring Pre-Retirement Seminar was another success! We received great feedback on the speakers, topics, and venue. The date and location for the Fall Pre-Retirement Seminar will be September 28, 2024, at the Wintrust Scout Lounge and Auditorium, Guaranteed Rate Field. The seminar will cover the FABF application process, healthcare options in retirement, social security, wills and estate planning, wellness, long-term care planning, deferred compensation utilization, and overall financial planning. Please contact the Fund at (312) 726-5823 or via email at seminar@fabf.org to confirm participation - seating is limited to 120 and spouses are welcome.
