St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Chicago Working Families’ Archer Avenue St. Patrick’s Day Parade was Saturday, March 15th.  The Parade proudly honored fallen firefighters Jermaine Pelt, Kevin Ward, Jan Tchoryk, and Andrew Price, as well as fallen police officers Enrique Martinez, James ‘Jim’ Crowley, Luis Huesca, and Areanah M. Preston.

The event made clear that Chicago’s organized labor community is standing behind our membership in solidarity and honor for those who have lost their lives in the line of duty. The generosity of firefighters, paramedics, retirees, and members of the community make EMWQ’s mission possible. Thank You! 

All proceeds from the event benefitted the Ende Menzer Walsh and Quinn Retirees’ Widows’ and Children’s Assistance Fund. If you would like to donate, please visit widowsandchildren.org.

Member Trustee Election Information

Notice of Active Member Elections 2026
Under provisions of Section 6-175 of Chapter 40, Act 5, Article 6 of the Illinois Pension Code, an election will be held to fill the office of Active Firefighter Member Trustee of the Retirement Board which becomes vacant December 1, 2026, by reason of the expiration of the term of a present incumbent. Under provisions of the Illinois Pension Code, an election was held to fill the office of the Annuitant Member Trustee of the Retirement Board. The new term will run from December 1, 2025, through December 1, 2028.  Click here to see the certified results.

Only one active member candidate registered a ‘Statement of Candidacy’ for the Fall Election. Accordingly, the Election Committee recommended that he be affirmed as the winner of the Active Member Trustee Election. His new term runs through December 1, 2028. Pre-Retirement Seminar

The 2026 Fall Pre-Retirement Seminar is scheduled to be held at Guaranteed Rate Field (Sox Park) in the Wintrust Conference and Learning Center. The date for the seminar is Saturday, October 3rd, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Registration is limited to 120 and we are at capacity for the spring event. Please register with the Fund via email at seminar@fabf.org to confirm participation or cancel if your plans have changed.
